In use, activated carbon can be distinguished not only by material, but also by food grade and industrial grade. But how to distinguish whether activated carbon is food grade or industrial grade? What are their distinguishing standards? Let's learn about it below.
Food-grade wood activated carbon is generally produced by high-temperature steam activation process, and is crushed and screened.
Food-grade activated carbon has the advantages of large specific surface area, strong adsorption, high wear resistance, and fast filtration speed. It is mainly used in liquid phase adsorption and gas phase adsorption, and also has the uses of decolorization, adsorption, purification, filtration, carrier, deodorization, drying, preservation, recycling, purification, etc.
Food-grade activated carbon is widely used in life, industry, liquid phase adsorption, water purification, environmental protection, gas phase adsorption, solvent recovery, especially suitable for water purification in power plants, petrochemical plants, food and beverage, sugar and alcohol, electronics, chemicals, drinking water, ships, industrial wastewater, domestic sewage and other industries, and can effectively adsorb free chlorine, phenol, sulfur, oil, pesticide residues and other organic pollutants in water.
The general standards for food-grade wood activated carbon are ash content 4-6%, iron salt: 0.02-0.05, 0.08-0.1, and coal quality 12-15%. These standards determine the price of these activated carbons. Therefore, food-grade activated carbon has standards.
