Powdered activated carbon product types

There are many varieties of powdered activated carbon, mainly because there are many raw materials for making powdered activated carbon, such as wood, coconut shell, fruit shell, coal, coke, bone, petroleum residue, etc. Since some types of carbon will precipitate toxic substances in water, the main types of carbon used in the water treatment industry are: wood, coconut shell, coal-based carbon. Due to the different activation processes of different types of carbon, the elemental composition of activated carbon, the distribution of non-crystalline parts on the surface and various functional groups are different, which directly affects the adsorption performance of activated carbon and the surface diffusion rate of different organic matter. Therefore, powdered activated carbon has a certain optimal application range in water treatment. For different water qualities, it is impossible to have a unified optimal carbon type. Only on the basis of simulating static carbon selection tests and considering the economic factors of selecting powdered activated carbon, can the appropriate carbon type be selected.
It is difficult to separate, recycle and regenerate powdered activated carbon separately after use, and it is generally treated together with the sludge of the water plant.
