Activated carbon filter beds are divided into three types: fixed bed, mobile bed and fluidized bed. Fixed bed activated carbon filtration is widely used. It has been used in activated carbon filter tanks for water supply and deep treatment of sewage in China. It is mainly used for decolorization, deodorization, decyanation, removal of organic matter, heavy metals, synthetic detergents, viruses, etc. The thickness of the fixed carbon layer is 1.5-2.0m, the filtration speed is 8-20m/h, the backwash water speed is 28-32m/h, and the backwash time is 4-10min. After the activated carbon loses its adsorption capacity, it can be regenerated by direct current heating. The regeneration cost per kilogram of carbon is about 5.5% of the cost of new carbon. In addition, wet oxidation and microwave heating can be used for its regeneration. The regeneration yield can reach 80-94%.
